Local wood source for firewood logs

Our Firewood Source

Our firewood logs are sourced from a local estate’s managed woodland, and can be cut and split to your requirements. The firewood comprises mainly of Ash, Alder, Beech, Birch, Oak and Sycamore.

Bag sizes

Our firewood logs can be delivered in different quantities, depending on your needs:

  • Grab bag / Nets: Handy bags to store and handle the firewood.
  • Barrow bag: Mid-size bag for delivery of a “barrow load” of firewood.
  • Dumpy Bags: Dumpy bag or bulk bag delivered on a flat bed and tipped out unless requested.
  • Loads: Loose loads come in half or full load and are more cost effective.
Hardwood softwood or kiln dried firewood logs

Hard, Soft or Kiln Dried?

Our firewood comes in three different varieties. We can offer advice on which firewood variety is most suitable for your needs.

Kiln Dried Logs

We produce our Kiln Dried Firewood Logs on-site, to produce our premium firewood log. Our Kiln Dried Hardwood Logs are great for wood burning stoves, multi-fuel stoves and open fires. They can also be used for BBQs, chimineas, fire pits and other wood burning appliances. These kiln dried hardwood logs can be used either on their own or with other solid fuel. As they are kiln dried, with well under 20% average moisture content, the logs burn at a higher temperature.

Hardwood Logs

Seasoned Hardwood Logs are the perfect logs for woodburners, multi fuel stoves and open fires. They can also be used for BBQs, chimineas, fire pits and other wood burning appliances. Seasoned Hardwood Logs burn efficiently and can be used either on their own or with household coal or smokeless fuels. They provide excellent heat output for superb warmth and give that quintessential ambiance and scent that only a log fire delivers.

Softwood Logs

Seasoned Softwood Logs are good to use on traditional open fires where they can be used either on their own, with coal or one of the other smokeless fuels to give a fire that provides the “real fire warmth and glow”.

Seasoning Firewood Logs

The key to a good fire is well seasoned wood. Seasoning happens with time and dry, airy conditions.

The water content of freshly cut logs can be as high as 50% in the case of Oak, but is typically 35-40%. Ash is usually as low as 25-30%, which is why it is the only wood that is usually burnt green. Well-seasoned firewood will have a moisture content of around 20%, with Kiln Dried having a lower percentage moisture content.

Storing

It is important that, once delivered, the logs are stored under cover to keep them dry.

Ideally this would be a cover only to keep rain off whilst allowing ventilation in order to help with further seasoning.

Keeping a few days or a weeks’ supply, if you have the space, in the house near the fire will reduce the water content to around 15%. This is ideal for a good, warm fire.
